Nelson City, New Zealand The Provincial Apartments is a recently renovated historic building (2017)– one of the very first hotels built in Nelson in 1865. No longer a tavern, it was where the sailors used to dock their boats and come in for a drink.  Since then most of the land has been reclaimed and the sea is further away but there is the beautiful Maitai River just up the road. The first floor of the building has just been fully refurbished into modern, stylish, self-contained inner-city apartments with a design studio and cafe below.
