A message from the CEO

What a month! On Tuesday, October 9th 2018,Stage A of our new airport terminal opened for business. 
This date now marks a major milestone in the history of aviation in Nelson. One that we can all be proud of.  From Studio Pacific Architecture’s Designs, to the inclusion of Nelson Pine’s stunning timber, to the precision work and expertise that Naylor Love and their sub-contractors have brought to the project during the last sixteen months, to what we see standing in the airport precinct today.

The way our customers experience travel in and out of the Nelson Tasman region has changed in a vastly positive way. We feel an immense amount of pride around how striking this structure is and what this terminal will mean for travelers and the Nelson Tasman community.

Of course, this is only the first milestone. There is much more of our redevelopment yet to be completed. The next stage in the redevelopment will include beginning construction on the remaining forty percent of the new terminal. We expect to be able to officially open the building in approximately one years’ time.

I would like to congratulate our Nelson Airport family on a very smooth transition into the new building and to welcome our new retailers into the buzz of a Nelson Airport life.

During the lead up to the opening we continued to see record numbers of passengers through our gates. We are looking forward to a busy Nelson summer season of travelers enjoying our new facilities for the first time.
