LANTERN CELEBRATION
Theme: Invention & Imagination
Entertainment timings:
– On the ‘up track’ from 7-9pm
– At Sir Stanley Whitehead Park from 7.30pm – dark fall
– UV Light Show on the ‘down track’ at dark fall
– Al Fresco Movie – Miracle on 34th Street – from 9.30pm – 11pm
Rain date: Sun 16th Dec
The celebrations begin as you make your way up the hill to the Centre of New Zealand. Along the track you will discover inventive installations and imaginative performances.
Once at the top of the hill, listen to some groovy music, get your face painted and watch the sun slowly set.
Then it’s time to trail back down the hill, using your lanterns to light your way, bringing to life the wonders that the night offers.
Then a special outdoor screening of the delightful Christmas family movie ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ begins in the Botanic Reserve.
Get creating and make yourself a homemade lantern. Remember to use a battery powered light to avoid fire risk. Bring a picnic, light-source and warm clothing. Children under 13 must be supervised by an adult.
This is a zero rubbish event.
LOOK OUT for the LANTERN-MAKING WORKSHOPS – listed separately.
