Second Hand Sunday is on 9 June: it’s a fun way to declutter
Whether you are trying to free up some space in your house, or grab yourself a freebie, Second Hand Sunday is a fun way of recycling household goods.
Have you got that old bike sitting around gathering cobwebs or the wardrobe overflowing with clothes you haven’t worn in ages? One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, so why not participate?
You also don’t have to load up the car to share your belongings, simply leave the items to give away, on your driveway, but please remember to take back inside anything that doesn’t go on the day. The Nelson Environment Centre has some great information on how to recycle leftover items.
If you have items you want to give away, simply register online to make sure you go on the list of addresses taking part, print off a poster (or pick one up from Council’s Customer Services Centre) and put it on your mailbox on the day.
Second Hand Sunday starts at 10am on 9 June, so put your goods on your driveway, not on the footpath, with the poster on display. Please do not put out food or dangerous goods, like faulty electrical equipment or chemicals.
The list of participants will be available for download from 12pm on Friday 7 June, so pick up a list and head out for a treasure hunt. The event will take place rain or shine, but please respect the 10am start time.
