Plastic Free July @ Frut4U Lowes Orchard
Third generation grower Andrew along with his wife Sue run a quaint little roadside stall in Brightwater supplying high quality, in season fruit to the locals. In addition to this, they also attend markets throughout the top of the South region.
The Nelson Farmers market is part of the family’s tradition and they bring a selection of fruit they grow on their property. The Lowe family have been part of the Farmers Market since it’s inception with Andrew and Sue taking over the family business 10 years ago this month.
Andrew is passionate about growing a top-quality product and it shows through when you bite into a luscious piece of fruit, freshly picked for the market! Lowes Orchard have won several National awards for their fruit over the years, including for their juices, stone and pip fruit. Both Andrew and Sue, along with their staff enjoy catching up with the regulars and are always happy to meet new people, interested in quality fruit. They’ll answer any questions about their products!
Sue has been studying sustainability on the orchard and over the last 18 months or so has slowly been encouraging customers to “bring their own containers and bags.” This month she’s ramping it up by joining plastic free July! The Lowes Orchard stall WILL NOT be providing plastic bags for fruit for the WHOLE month at the Farmers Market! If you’re not a regular at the market, we suggest you come visit the FRUT4U stall – you’ll be pleased you did!
