Update on your Hospice
As many of you will know, having been our avid supporters over the past few years, Nelson Tasman Hospice’s new $14 million facility in Suffolk Rd, Stoke has been fully operational for two months now. The drought slowed down progress on the landscaping, but even that is beginning to take shape now. Our short-stay facility for out-of-town family members, Kowhai House, is expected to be up and running by the end of this month. Families from places as far afield as Murchison, Okiwi Bay and Golden Bay, will be able to stay when their family member is an inpatient. They will be able to take just a few steps across to the Specialised Palliative Care Unit when needed. It’s so important for family to be able to be close by during a person’s final days.
If you are interested in a tour, or in supporting us in some way, please contact our new Fundraising and Marketing Manager Hudson Dodd (hudson.dodd@nelsonhospice.org.nz or 021 546 252.) Hudson, who many of you may know from his former role at the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary, took over from Paul McIntyre about the time of the move to the new facility.
Upcoming events organised by community groups to support us include:
- Charity Midwinter Christmas Party, at the Playhouse Cafe and Restaurant Theatre, Friday July 26 from 6pm.
- All Ford birthday event at Tahunanui Beach Park, 10am to 2pm, Sunday July 28.
Please follow us on Facebook to hear about these events and other newsworthy happenings at Hospice.
