Starr’s to Base Camp for Hospice
To raise much needed funds in the memory of Alison Starr for the Nelson Tasman Hospice, who support those with life limiting illnesses
Last year 31st May 2018 our Mum and loving wife and grandmother Alison Starr passed away after several years in a battle with breast cancer.
The Nelson Tasman hospice supported Alison throughout her illness and in her final days and hours. As a family we are truly grateful for the support and care they gave our mum and our family through this difficult time.
The hospice relies heavily on the financial support of the Nelson/Tasman community and local business, without which the service could not operate. A brand new state of the art facility will open in Nelson in March this year to serve and care for the community for decades to come, however the hospice still currently experiences a $1m shortfall in funding each year, made good through fundraising activities and community initiatives and donations.
This is where we want to do our bit – In October 2019 Alison’s husband Simon and son’s Dean & Todd will trek to Mount Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5380m, to raise much needed funds for Hospice and in the memory of Alison.
Please show Alison your support by giving what you can – Thank you
Simon, Dean & Todd Starr
Dean Starr’s involvement
Our mum Alison was cared for in her final days by the Hospice in Nelson, and supported throughout the late stages of her illness by the fantastic nurses, carers and support staff there.
