A belated Happy New Year to you all. We have had a great start to it at the Nelson Farmers Market. Summer is well and truly here and the hotter weather has things growing well. This is such a wonderful time of year for the Farmers Market. We are full to the brim with stalls who have an amazing range of fresh fruit and vegetables, artisan food and ready-to-eat food. There is so much choice. It is very easy to eat well. Fruit includes cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, assorted berries, apples and pears etc as well as all your favourite summer vegetables; tomatoes, salad greens, cucumber, courgettes, caspicums, eggplant, corn, new seasons pumpkins etc. New produce is arriving weekly so pop on down and see what is fresh this week.
We are really excited to have Sally Rees of Natural Nosh back for a couple of Raw Food Demonstrations. On Wednesday 29 January, Sally will be showing us how to make raw soups, including a corn soup with cucumber salsa. On 12 February she will look at lunch box snacks and make a spinach and avocado dip. Sally’s demonstrations run from 11.30am to 12.30 pm in Kirby Lane and there is a small koha to cover her costs.
We would love to see you at the market so just a reminder it is on Every Wednesday in Kirby Lane (105 Bridge Street) fro 8.30am to 1.30pm.
