The Nelson Weekly community newspaper has been asked by the government not to publish over this period of lock down.
To our readers and advertisers,
The Nelson Weekly community newspaper has been asked by the government not to publish over this period of lock down. It is therefore with regret that we tell our readers and advertisers that, like many other businesses in New Zealand, we are on hold until further notice. Although we are not in full agreement of this decision due to a number of reasons, we are supportive of the government’s efforts to keep our community safe. While suspending publishing is not an ideal outcome, our priority is always to serve our community to the best of our ability.
To our many readers who have contacted us, especially those who are elderly, and those self-isolating on their own, we know you rely on your Nelson Weekly news to keep you in touch on a local level. However, we want to assure you that we will be up and running as soon as possible. This decision has also been made out of respect to our advertisers, many of which have also had to close their doors for the foreseeable future, and who can’t advertise products and services that they can’t provide.
In the meantime, our team of journalists are continuing to work and publish local news via the Nelson App. And please continue to let us know, via Facebook or email, what is happening in your family and friends bubble and your community while you are out walking. We are keen to put all of your thoughts and experiences on our Your Voice column in future papers or on the Nelson App.
We will be back on board just as soon as we can, but for now, look after each other.
Kindest regards, Andrew and Sarah Board and the rest of the Nelson Weekly team.
