Some lovely Wellington clients approached me to design a belated 21st birthday present for their daughter.

Their original ideas were to include her birthstone and the birthstones of her parents and grandparents.

I mulled this over and decided that some of the birthstones were not very complementary together.

This is when I suggested having gold leaves each side to represent her grandparents on a “family tree”, her parents were represented by diamonds each side set within a koru.

For the central birthstone we sourced this amazing Madagascan Emerald which is an extraordinary colour.
