CHORUS ART CABINETS CALL FOR DESIGN SUBMISSIONS: Arts Council Nelson
On behalf of Chorus and Nelson City Council, Arts Council Nelson are calling for local artists to submit design proposals for four street sited Chorus Cabinets. There are two large and two medium sized cabinets which have commission values of $1,500 and $1,000 respectively.
The large cabinets are located at 364, Nayland Rd, Stoke and 93, Washington Rd, Nelson. The medium cabinets are at 136, Waimea Rd and 63, Tipahi St Nelson. Artists will also receive up to a maximum of $200 and/or $150 respectively toward material costs.
This is an open call to all artists in the Nelson Region. Four designs, one for each site, will be selected from submissions received and recommended. Artists may submit designs for one or more sites.
Designs should enhance the environment and may have site significance; however, designs will be selected on their originality and general appeal. Selected designs will be recommended to Chorus who have final approval. Selected artists are expected to prime the cabinet prior to painting their design and apply two coats of anti-grafitti product* on completion. (*product Supplied) Payments will be made to selected artists on completion of the work.
Artist submissions must be in digital format less than 2mb and should be sent to artscouncilnsn@gmail.com by 4pm on Monday 19th October.
Submissions must include:
* Brief explanation of your design and if appropriate how it has a particular relevance to site (maximum of one page typed). If your design is chosen this will be used, along with details of you on the Council website that lists public art.
* Colour digital images preferably JPEG files less than 2mb of your design(s) which should wrap around the road facing and two side panels. Please show all three faces of the cabinet and how the design fits together.
