Lunchtime Concert: ‘Trio Jackson’ Miles, Margarita & Fleur Jackson:
Trio Jackson are a dynamic ensemble with a special family connection who have been working together for over 20 years. Originally Duo Jackson’, the husband and wife ensemble of Miles and Margarita Jackson expanded into ‘Trio Jackson’ with the addition of their daughter Fleur. On completion of her Masters degree in Violin Performance at Victoria University under Helene Pohl the Trio regrouped to start recording and touring together.
Their music spans a range of genres from classical to folk and jazz, all with a focus on originality, musicianship and tight ensemble. The combination of two violins and guitar is an unusual one. As a result their repertoire features many unique arrangements by Miles himself, original compositions by Miles and Margarita and commissioned works written especially for the Trio. One such commission is Gypsy Song and Dance, a two movement work by English guitarist Vincent Lindsey Clark which you are unlikely to hear anywhere else in the world. Their programme also features arrangements of Bach and Shostakovich alongside jazz favourites such as Take Five and folk melodies from Greece, Armenia and Transylvania.
If you’re after an experience of diverse music, imaginative interpretation and warm onstage rapport you’ve come to the right place.
