Textile waste is a big issue – global clothing production has doubled since 2000, with the average person buying 60 per cent more items every year, but only keeping them for about half as long.
On top of this, textiles are now becoming a major global source of greenhouse gas emissions. So instead of adding to this problem, we have an opportunity to re-use and create a circular economy.
Our new Op Shop map and guide can help you get started, if you haven’t already.
It tells you where all the shops are in the Nelson/Tasman region, along with some useful tips and guidelines.
Grab a copy from the Nelson City Council Customer Service Centre, Nelson Public Libraries Ngā Whare Mātauranga o Whakatū, your local Op Shop or check it out on our website https://bit.ly/37iziNr
