This locally owned Italian inspired Qualmark 5 Star luxury Motor Lodge resides at 59 Rutherford Street, and it stands out. Especially at nighttime with the beautifully lit frontage. Luminated coloured lights shoot up the grand pillars, which creates a stunning entrance. You cannot miss them as you drive by.
Owner Max says, “We feel very proud of the way the Motel presents itself”. The building has “great bones”. Palazzo has a strong presence and welcomes any traveler, family or Corporate, that wants to experience a touch of luxury. Interestingly enough, the name ‘Palazzo’ is the Italian word for ‘Palatial’. The Palace like entrance of this Italian Inspired Motor lodge even has eye-catching coloured fountains out the front (Not quite the Baroque Trevi Fountain in Rome), but if you through a few coins in and make a wish it might come true here in Sunny Nelson.
It is one of Nelson’s highest-rated motels. Recently the Palazzo has been rated 2020 Trip Advisors Travellers Choice (Best of the Best) Award and has a 5-star Qualmark rating Elegant and Luxurious, the 5-star Palazzo Motel offers 16 rooms ranging from Executive Suites, single and 2-bedroom apartments, and Studios.
It is the fine details that make the difference. All rooms are highly appointed, with the latest 55-inch smart TV’s, personal Sky boxes, Nespresso Coffee machines, air conditioning, complimentary unlimited high-speed WiFi, and water filters in all the rooms. You only need to look at Trip Advisor to see what other people have said. One person said, “We only came to Nelson for one night but thanks to the advice from the friendly manager he helped us find great dining options nearby, and things to do which helped us out.”
The owner’s Max and Robyn have been in Nelson for 9 years (almost locals) and they love the accommodation industry. They have enjoyed developing a range of 13 different businesses over the years (impressive). Originally from Tauranga, their first venture into self-employment was a café in Mount Maunganui (when there was a mystic about owning a Café in the 80″s). After building and selling several more cafes and restaurants, they found themselves in the South Island.
“You have to adapt and listen to your customers. For us, it’s all about maintaining top-quality consistent service. We love owning such a quality Motel. Every day is completely different, and we like meeting people from all over the country. Some we have gotten to know very well, and they keep coming back and often rearrange their schedule just to stay with us. We love sharing with our guests about all the world-class local activities, restaurants here in Nelson and the last thing we want is for our guests to get lost and miss out on the local gems.”
