Nelson City Council’s Environmental Grants
Applications for Nelson City Council’s Environmental Grants are open now through to Friday 26 February 2021. If you are a group or an individual working to improve the health of Nelson’s natural environment, you may be eligible!
In the first round of funding for 2020-21, the scheme received 62 applications for almost $500,000.
Most grant applicants were successful with some funding for their project and $270,000 was awarded to groups or individuals to support a range of environmental outcomes including protecting and restoring wetlands, streams, native forest and biodiversity corridors and managing land at risk of erosion.
Funding was provided through Council’s Nelson Nature, Healthy Streams and Sustainable Land Management programmes, with approximately half of the grant funding provided through MPI’s Hill Country Erosion Fund.
