Reviewing our water and wastewater bylaws

Nelson City Council is currently consulting on new updated bylaws for wastewater and water supply.

Both bylaws are being updated to align with the Nelson Tasman Land Development Manual 2019 and the new Tasman District Council’s bylaws.

Changes to the existing water supply bylaw also reflect the requirements of the National Environmental Standards for Sources of Human Drinking Water.

Submissions close 27 April 2021.

Long Term Plan 2021 – 2031 – consultation coming soon

 The Long Term Plan consultation document will be out for consultation on the 22 March. This plan will set the budget and priorities for the city for the next 10 years. Keep an eye out for the consultation document, which will highlight the key issues that we want to hear from you on.

Central City Project Updates:

 Trafalgar Street – minor works

 NBS have been upgrading their building on Trafalgar Street, and will need to close the footpath and some carparks for 3 days to undertake electrical work. This work will start on 22 March 2021. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Upper Trafalgar Street Lighting

The project to install new lighting poles in Upper Trafalgar Street will get underway on 12 April 2021. Project updates will be provided on https://shape.nelson.govt.nz/upper-trafalgar-street-multi-function-poles

Trafalgar Street bike stands

 The final touches are being put on the bike stands outside Civic House. It is scheduled to be open for use next week https://shape.nelson.govt.nz/city-centre-bike-stands
