When you think of cocoa butter, it’s generally in the context of sumptuous desserts. However this wonderful butter is also a powerhouse ingredient in beauty-care products. Cocoa butter is high in antioxidants to help mitigate the effects of skin damage and from harmful UV rays. Its anti-inflammatory and is reputed to help heal scars and soothe sensitive and irritated skin. Its also high in fatty acids which hydrate and nourish skin.

Cocoa Butter, or cacoa butter (also called theobroma oil) doesn’t come from a cow. Rather, its a type of fat that comes from cocoa beans. To harness the butter, the cocoa beans are extracted from the inside of the large fleshy cocoa fruit. The beans are then cleaned, roasted and pressed to separate out the fat—the cocoa butter.
