29 July 2021 At 1 PM
In this 45-minute concert, Chroma Chamber Choir and conductor Costa Simpson celebrate the diverse and colourful voices of Aotearoa New Zealand.
The programme features arrangements of well-known Maori and Pacific Island tunes alongside the music of Kiwi composers including David Childs, Katherine Dienes-Williams, and David Hamilton.
The world premiere performance of Motet for a Starling called Matisse, by composer and choir member Mary Celeste — and featuring Matisse herself in a starring role — is presented, as well as a selection of popular songs by artists including The Beatles and Lorde.
This performance promises to be a touching reflection on what it means to call Aotearoa New Zealand home.
NCMA’s Lunchtime Concert Series is proudly sponsored by Nelson Pine Industries.
