Theatre Royal Nelson, March 2022 e-news
Greetings Theatre Lovers
We very much hope you are all keeping safe and looking after yourselves and each other.
There are no live shows with audiences at the moment, but we are playing host to some small film projects. These are able to go ahead as very few people are involved, everyone has their Vaccine Pass and all follow strict Covid protocols. See a little about Courageous Conversations below.
The start date for live shows is uncertain, but we’re very excited to share news of two great shows coming to us later in the year. Chris Parker’s Gentle Man and Tami Neilson’s Kingmaker are both scheduled for August and we’re optimistic they’ll be able to happen.
GENTLE MAN – The Best of Chris Parker
Sunday 21 August, 7pm
Join award-winning comedian Chris Parker for a night of his greatest hits. Chris has been seen on TV on 7 Days, Jono and Ben, Funny Girls and Have You Been Paying Attention, as well as making a name for himself with his Instagram presence and as the winner of TV2’s Celebrity Treasure Island.
BOOK NOW – GENTLE MAN, The Best of Chris Parker
KINGMAKER – Tami Neilson
Wednesday 17 August, 7.30pm
A driving, toe tapping musical tour de force with award-winning country artist Tami Neilson. Premiering brand new songs with stunning string arrangements by Victoria Kelly, Kingmaker is a high octane mix of Tami’s own original songs and tributes to iconic women in country music.
TICKETS ON SALE 1 APRIL (not an April fool’s joke!)
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION
Last week the stage was used for the filming of Courageous Conversations, a 4-part video series of conversations between members of the former migrant community and notable Nelsonians.
This project was funded by the Ministry for Ethnic Communities, brought together by Tanya Nock & the Cultural Conversations Trust and produced by Nelson film production company Innit Creative with audio recorded by Fresh FM.
