All Blacks head coach Ian Foster said the Nelson camp was vital for the team to get some work done as they prepare to compete for the Lipovitan-D Challenge Cup in Japan, before moving on to the Healthspan Elite Northern Tour in the UK, with Tests against Wales, Scotland and England.
“We’re excited about having this camp in Nelson,” said Foster.
“There is a very proud rugby community in the Nelson/Tasman region and it will be great to connect with our fans there.”
All Blacks midfielder and Tasman Mako, David Havili, attended Parklands School in Motueka and said he was really looking forward to being back home.
“The region has had some tough times recently with the floods so it will be great to give people a bit of a boost,” said Havili.
“It always gives the players a boost too, meeting fans. I can’t wait to get back to Nelson and see some familiar faces.”
