Two New Beauty Therapists at Woman Beauty Nelson
Litiana Alafy
Litiana joins us with over ten years of experience working in Day Spas through Fiji and Raratonga.

Q: What makes a truly exceptional day spa?
A: A warm welcome and the ability to provide good quality treatments that create a unique and memorable experience.

Q: How do you approach creating a personalised experience for each client, considering their unique preferences and needs?
A: By giving our clients choices and targeting their needs by tapping into a solid knowledge base that only comes with experience.

Q: What do you consider to be the benefits of spa treatments?
A: The well-being benefits of spa treatments are often more than people expect them to be. They provide stress relief and reduce anxiety through muscle relief and relaxation. A spa treatment will also remove toxins that build up in the body.

Q: What are you most enjoying about living in Nelson?
A: Moving from Fiji’s warm climate to cooler temperatures is a lot to cope with. But after a year of living in Nelson, I’m beginning to enjoy the change of seasons. It’s a great place to start a new life. I had no idea what it would be like, but I’m enjoying getting to know new people and places.

Q: Finally, what do you love most about being a spa therapist at Woman?
A: Most of all, I love meeting interesting people daily and helping people feel good inside and out. Previously I worked in resorts in Fiji and Rarotonga, so coming to work at Woman, where I see regular clients rather than visitors, has been excellent. I love learning from the team and sharing my knowledge too. We all get along well, which makes for a great workday!

Samantha joins us fresh from NMIT with her Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

Q: How did you become interested in becoming a spa therapist, and what inspired you to pursue this career path?
Growing up, I used to dance competitively, so I was constantly surrounded by makeup and hair. As I got a bit older, I started to do all my teammate’s makeup for them during competition seasons, which sparked my interest in the beauty world. During high school, I entered the Beauty Therapy Trades Academy to see if this was the career path I wanted to take. This made me fall in love with beauty therapy even more.

Q: What makes a truly exceptional day spa?
A: I believe an exceptional day spa experience stems from how well the team works to keep things running smoothly throughout the day. Little things that we practice here at Woman, such as helping to set up a colleague’s room for the next client, help provide a seamless experience for the customer, who is always the most important person to consider!

Q: What do you consider to be the benefits of spa treatments?
A: Just like Litiana said, the benefits extend well beyond being a relaxing experience. Spa treatments can help to improve the body’s circulation, reduce inflammation and help to enhance and improve the body’s autoimmune system.

Q: Finally, what do you love most about being a spa therapist at Woman?
A: I am enjoying the close working environment at Woman. Some of us are new beauty therapists to the Spa, but nobody is made to feel like they matter less or more. That makes coming to work very enjoyable. But more importantly, that same team spirit means that our clients are supported and looked after at every visit.
