Palazzo owners Max and Robyn share Henry Ford’s philosophy. “Nelson is punching well above its weight with a series of other local motels topping the country recently. We have such a unique region, with plenty to do and see. As summer approaches and the days get longer the bookings are rolling in and it’s a good space to be in.” says Max.
Max and Robyn come from the Cafe/Restaurant/Hospitality background from which they credit their success to the ability to read the room and predict and understand the guests’ needs.
“We like people and getting to know our guests is important so we can keep improving the Palazzo experience for them. We happily answer questions and show the visitors where they will have a great time. Sometimes we make up an itinerary for them if needed and go the extra mile. Many of our guests return regularly and we enjoy seeing familiar faces.” says Robyn.
They have been constantly improving the facility with all the latest modern technology so the rooms are equal or above what our guests may experience at home. 55-inch Smart TVs, coffee machines, fast internet and many other features like these add up to a fun and enjoyable stay.
“It’s the details that make the biggest difference. For example, all of our bedding is white. It is hard work to maintain perfectly clean linen with that colour, but it’s our benchmark standard. There’s nothing like fresh white sheets in a tidy room to display the high level of cleaning standards we deliver. Our cleaners are diligent and every room has to be signed off by the cleaning manager so it’s a consistent standard every time.” says Max.
Palazzo is rated as a Qualmark 5-star Motel. The standard of a Qualmark 5-star is extremely high. Every room must be presented as though you are the first guest to enter the room.
“The perceived value from guests is high these days, so we work hard to present our 16 spacious rooms with plenty of car parking in the best light possible. There are no shortcuts – just good old-fashioned hard work and high standards.”
Location is key as it’s only a 5-minute walk into the Nelson CBD and is easy to find and get both to and from the airport. After a long day exploring or being at a conference, these details are very attractive.
