Drypoint Intaglio Etching – Adult: The Armarie Room
This course is designed for those who are keen to explore drypoint etching techniques while creating their own unique artworks. There will be time to learn, develop and experiment with a range of processes that will inform your personal development of imagery and mark making.
Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking method that involves scratching an image into a plate with a pointed tool. The lines create a burr that holds ink, which when printed creates a distinct, velvety image. Drypoint is a relative easy technique to learn and is a great method if you would like to take your drawings into print. The soft, feathery lines of drypoint lend themselves to playful illustrations or expressive sketches. The plates can be printed as an edition or combined with other techniques to produce unique monoprints.
