Tuku 24 provides insight into world of Māori martial art
Recent events held through Tuku 24 gave attendees an introduction to Mau Rākau, a traditional Māori martial art.
Hosted by the School of Māori Weaponry, Te Whare Tū Taua o Whakatū, attendees had a chance to try the martial art for themselves and watch some of the pou (elders) train through their curriculum.
Tuku 24 Whakatū is an arts and heritage festival with six weeks of events to tuku (share) Nelson’s unique stories of people and place.
Visit Tuku 24 Whakatū to see the full programme of events.
The festival ends Saturday 4 May.
