The group celebrates 50 years this year and acknowledges all their amokura (leaders) who kept Kia Ngāwari alive.

🎵 Matariki 2024 special guest performer announced!
New Zealand multi-award-winning Māori singer-songwriter Maisey Rika (Ngāti Awa, Te Arawa, Te Whānau a Apanui, Tūhoe) will be the special guest performer at this year’s Matariki Festival, Te Huihui o Matariki 2024.
Hailing from the serene shores of the East Coast of the North Island, Maisey’s music is a mix of Māori, folk, acoustic, soul and easy listening that is vibrant with elements of roots and deep culture.
Maisey began singing as a professional from a young age, recording several Māori albums before finishing her high school years. One of these albums even reached double platinum status here in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Since then, she’s added another six original albums to her name, all of which have received accolades in the NZ Top 40 album charts and at music awards around the country.
We look forward to seeing Maisey perform at Te Huihui-o-Matariki 2024 at Trafalgar Park Friday 28 June.
