New Zealand’s Annual Cider Festival Returns to Nelson for 2024
The 8th annual New Zealand Cider Festival is coming back to Founders Heritage Park in Nelson on Saturday, 2 November, 2024. This year’s event promises to be a vibrant kick-off to the festival season, showcasing an impressive selection of over 100 ciders from across the country.
Shelley Haring, Festival Director says, “After a successful event in Hawke’s Bay last year, New Zealand’s only cider dedicated festival is excited to be back in Nelson, ready to deliver an unforgettable experience to cider lovers and newcomers alike.”
This year’s event will feature an exciting lineup of new producers from around the country, ensuring a diverse range of flavours and styles to sample, whilst Cider will be the main attraction there will also be Mead, Fruit Wine, Craft Beer & Local Wine on the list also. Attendees can also look forward to engaging in workshops and activities to enhance their experience.
Entertainment will be in full swing with live performances on the main stage. Wellington’s Raw Collective will join local favourites including Reece Milton, The Leftovers, ShedHeads and more to be announced soon, promising a dynamic mix of musical talent to keep the festival buzzing throughout the day.
A range of children’s entertainment will be available, so families can enjoy the festivities together. Local food trucks will offer a variety of artisan food, allowing festival-goers to indulge in delicious treats while enjoying the lively atmosphere at Founders Heritage Park.
A highlight of the day will be the announcement of the 2024 Fruit Wine and Cider Awards by the Fruit Wine & Cider Maker’s Association of NZ. This prestigious competition, established in 1984, recognises outstanding quality and innovation in New Zealand cider, celebrating the growing diversity of cider styles available in the country.
