Tāhunanui Beach Clean-Up: Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park
Following on from the success of last year’s Beach Clean-Up event, we’re inviting local businesses and the community again to join in our efforts to clean up Tāhunanui Beach, the inlet, the Back Beach and surround as part of New Zealand’s largest movement against litter during Clean Up Week 2024.
Clean Up Week is a nationwide initiative focusing the community’s attention on how much litter is polluting our environment.
Last year, approx. 67,200 volunteers took part in 627 clean-up events across Aotearoa and collected a total of 652 tonnes of waste over an area equivalent to 5,728 rugby fields.
Meeting point: Main Tāhunanui Beach behind Nelson Fun Park.
For Health & Safety reasons, please note that all volunteers need to register on arrival and fill out a registration form. (It will only take a minute, we promise!). Look out for our gazebo with the ‘Registration’ sign.
There will be a Thank You BBQ and prizes for the most bags/most litter collected as well as spot prizes.
Remember to dress appropriately, ie wear sturdy shoes, a sun hat and bring some water to drink! We also encourage everyone to bring their own gardening or other reusable gloves and any reusable bags or buckets to collect with, although we will have some spare gloves, bags and litter pick-up tools.
Please RSVP down below, and feel free to share this event with your friends and family, the more the merrier!
The Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park team is really proud of the legacy we’ve been creating for New Zealanders since 1926, creating fabulous holiday memories! We’re all custodians of our beautiful shoreline and we’re committed to keeping Tāhunanui Beach beautiful and enjoyable for future generations, our moana, wildlife and coastal economies. Organising regular beach clean-ups is one way we are trying to ensure that.
