Nelson Clay Week 2024
From September 28th to October 4th 2024, Nelson Clay Week will transform Whakatū into a hub of creativity and craftsmanship. With a range of activities designed to engage both seasoned ceramic artists and curious newcomers – workshops, special events, markets, talks and public demonstrations – there’s something for everyone.
Visitors can participate in hands-on workshops, explore stunning pottery exhibitions, and take part in interactive sessions that highlight the rich tradition of ceramics in the region.
Potters Square is our public hub at the top of Trafalgar Street where our master potters will showcase their skills with daily demonstrations. There’s also a chance to give a pottery wheel a whirl with experienced staff onhand to guide you. Bring the kids (or just yourself) to sculpt and decorate a clay lizard which will contribute to a wider public art piece.
With its blend of creativity, education, and community spirit, Nelson Clay Week 2024 promises to be an unmissable event, celebrating the artistry and innovation that defines Nelson’s vibrant cultural scene.
