Diwali 2024 on 19th October at Founders Heritage Park

Diwali, the most popular and vibrant Indian festival, is being celebrated by the Experience India group on Saturday, 19th October 2024 at Founders Heritage Park, Nelson, from 12 pm to 4 pm. This year’s event promises to be a colourful and lively celebration filled with activities for the whole family.

The Diwali festival is a time for joy, togetherness, and celebration, and this event will bring our local Nelson and Tasman communities together to experience Indian culture. Attendees can look forward to a traditional Indian vibe, delicious festive Indian food, and captivating music that showcases the richness of India’s diverse heritage.

Activities will include:

Rangoli making – Learn the traditional Indian art of creating beautiful designs with coloured powders.
Bollywood music – Enjoy the vibrant and rhythmic sounds of India’s film industry played by an expert DJ.
Hindu temple display – Experience the spiritual side of Diwali with a visit to a recreated Hindu temple.
Market stalls – Discover Indian Jewellery, clothing, and more.
Cultural performances – Be entertained by live dance and music performances celebrating Indian tradition.
Kids’ activities – Fun-filled activities to engage the younger attendees.
