Her journey into beauty therapy wasn’t something she had envisioned as a young girl. In fact, it was a desire for independence and self-employment that led her to retrain as a beauty therapist in her thirties. “I wanted to be my own boss, earn my own money, and do things my way,” she explains.
Tina’s passion for skincare was sparked by her own struggles with acne, and when she discovered a beauty therapy course at NMIT, it felt like the right fit. “I enjoyed making people feel better, helping them look their best,” she says. From there, her journey took off—starting with a small home-based business and eventually expanding into what is now Mabin House.
Jess, Tina’s daughter, initially resisted following in her mother’s footsteps. “I was the guinea pig for all her early treatments, and I couldn’t imagine doing this for a living,” Jess recalls. However, after dabbling in various fields, including creative writing and veterinary nursing, Jess found herself drawn back into the world of beauty therapy. “I realised there was so much more to this industry than I had thought. It’s constantly evolving, and there’s always something new to learn.” Today, Jess plays an integral role in the business, bringing a fresh perspective and a dedication to the latest innovations in skincare.
