Chaos…
Chaos… Greeting dear friends & fellow navigators, & welcome to my world this weekend. You may recall from last week, we returned from two weeks around the South Island ~ Nelson to Invercargill & back. During five days of driving, or being a passenger, I am still impressed about the beauty we have around us in so many areas. From churches in Waimate & Waimatuku to rebuilt towns & the city in Christchurch.
During the next week I attended a function where the perfunctory requirements of Worksafe H&S duties were duly completed & I drifted of as I can do sometimes thinking where one can drop to, cover from & hold. Whilst we were in a corporate building, the area of the function was in an open room with limited chairs.
The thought of all this quietly brewing a mysterious force in my mind, ready to explode, was interesting. Thinking of the Invercargill floods in 1983 & Christchurch Earthquakes in 2010 & 2011, these events can level entire landscapes in seconds. Everything we ever knew could be wiped out by this single event. Yet, this is nature, & in its unpredictability, there is something almost sacred.
It is ironic, though; the same disasters we fear are often the reason the beautiful landscape around it exists. The lush fields, forests, & fertile soil ~ they are all here because & even though something once upon a time happened. It destroyed, yes; however, it also created. Without this chaos, we would not have the beauty we see today. We would not have anything to post on Instagram, Facebook or X.
Life is no different. Chaos & unpredictability are not interruptions. They are built into this world. In fact, they built this world. They are life & they are death. Everything around us is created in this battle with nature. We cannot have one without the other.
So when life feels overwhelming, when it feels like the ground might give way beneath us or the world might explode in our faces, remember: chaos is not meant to break us. It is clearing space for something new. Something better. It is how we grow, how we evolve. We cannot control the madness, but we can find our path through it.
The confusion, the mess ~ these are signs we are alive & developing. Each moment of uncertainty is a chance to become something unexpected. Because in chaos, things fall apart, & new things come together. It is raw, but it is real, & from the disorder, from all the cracks & broken pieces, something beautiful begins to form.
So when the ground shakes for you, try not to fight it. Close your eyes & feel the earth roar beneath your feet. When lightning, rips through the sky, do not fear. Stand still. Because every time something dies, something new is born. We may not see it now, but something extraordinary is brewing. Just like the valleys forged by massive flooding, we are becoming something we could not be without the storm.
Sometimes, the most extraordinary things are born from chaos. It is not always pretty, but this is exactly what makes it beautiful; & this beauty is you ~ still standing, still growing.
Just few observations again dear friends, & provide an opinion in my world. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate your being here. If my journey encourages you also, all is well with my soul. Looking forward to being back next week; this is Kenn Butler in Paradise, Nelson with best wishes.
