Ready to ride again

Nelson will host the premiere of the sequel to a coming-of-ageing show that captured Kiwi audiences.

Theatre veteran Mark Hadlow is back on his bike for GOMIL — Grumpy Middle Aged Man in Lycra, which premieres at the Founders Energy Centre at Founders Park on Saturday.

It’s a follow-up to his acclaimed one-man show MAMIL, Middle Aged Man in Lycra, that drew 70,000 people to performances around the country.

“Boomers who have aged alongside me over the past decade will find a lot to laugh at,” Hadlow said of the new show that was penned by MAMIL writer and long-time associate Gregory Cooper.

Hadlow reprises one of the personas from the original show, the opinionated father figure of the peloton Wayne, but 10 years post-MAMIL have taken their toll.
