Proud to support the beautiful Kāinga exhibition: Nelson Provincial Museum
We’re proud to support the beautiful Kāinga exhibition, curated by Lani Kalapu, now open at Refinery ArtSpace, Hardy St. The Museum is honoured to have loaned treasured items that are featured in this stunning exhibition.
“Kāinga in its many variations carries distinct meanings for all Pacific peoples. From land, settlement, family and home, the word encapsulates what feeds our peoples. As voyagers, we have carried pieces of home to sustain us for millennia. From old homeland to new homeland, our treasured items – our tāonga and measina, carry deep memories and stories rich in history and culture. Often intricately crafted, aspects of the traditional are continued through the contemporary and we continue to flourish.”
On from 17th December – 11th January – don’t miss out!
