Nelson Summer Kite Festival 2025 this weekend
The Nelson Summer Kite Festival is on, at Neale Park, Nelson, 18-19 January 2025.
Set up Friday 17th January, public display days Saturday 18th, Sunday 19th, pack out 20th.
The following notes are from 2024. They will be updated, if necessary, later this year.
For those who want to, there is free camping on the field to create a security team to look after the tent, bunting, speakers, etc. The ablution block will be available to kitefliers and campers, with kite gear storage, toilets and showers.
Friday night we’ll have takeaways meal on the field once the tent is set up.
Saturday and Sunday set up the display field and start flying for the public display from 12pm to 5pm both days. Food and drink stalls are booked for both days.

Sunday after 5pm when public display is finished, pack down the tent if dry and get all the display gear packed into the ablution block so we can all go to dinner at a chosen restaurant by 7-7.30pm.
Pack out, clean out ablution block Monday, maybe a little flying if wind is good!
When we get a sunny day and a sea breeze, Neale Park shines and one the best urban kite flying spots ever!
