Business award winners
Engineering company Kernohan took home the Supreme and Large business awards at the 35th Nelson Pine Industries Chamber of Commerce Business Awards at Annesbrook Events Centre on Friday night.
Judges praised the engineering company’s ability to pivot, adapt, and seize new opportunities in an ever-changing market.
Twenty-three organisations entered the awards, submitting 27 entries across multiple categories.
The annual event, attended by 330 local business leaders, celebrated the resilience and innovation of the region’s business community.
Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce CEO Ali Boswijk highlighted the importance of acknowledging businesses that continue to thrive despite challenges.
“We all know how challenging the last 12 months have been, and yet, once again, the businesses of the Nelson Tasman region have demonstrated just how innovative, resilient, and varied they are.”
Other award winners
- Top South Media Start-Up Business Award: Global Workshop, a software service for the custom vehicle restoration industry.
- MediaWorks Medium Business Award: Master Valet and Apparel Master, Nelson’s only dry-cleaning service, which has been operating since the 1940s.
- 2Degrees Innovative Business Award: SquareKicker, a technology company revolutionising web design within the Squarespace ecosystem by offering no-code solutions.
- Kiwi Bank Young Business Leader Award: Alice Hazlett of Keetrax, recognised for leading the marketing team and driving significant business growth.
- NBS Community Impact Award (Joint Winners):Nelson Bays Community Law, which has been providing legal support and advocacy in the region for 25 years, and Whenua Iti Outdoors, an experiential education provider that supports over 5000 participants annually.
