Judith, 91, has been volunteering at our Nelson shop: Hospice Shops
🌟Judith, 91, has been volunteering at our Nelson shop for over 13 years. Over time, her responsibilities have evolved, and she now takes care of ironing clothes before they’re put on display.
💗“13 years ago, I visited the shop to see a friend who was volunteering and the manager at the time encouraged me to apply for a role. I like volunteering as I get to see friends, and it gives me a pattern to my week”, she said.
Dianne Timbs, Nelson shop manager said, “We are so appreciative to Judith and our team of volunteers who help with the day-to-day running of the shop. We’re lucky to have volunteers of all ages, including those who have reached retirement and younger ones. They exchange ideas and experiences across generations creating a strong sense of community.”
🙏 A big thank you to our dedicated volunteers who help run our five shops and support our local community. If you’d like to volunteer at one of the shops, please speak to the shop manager or email volunteers@nelsonhospice.org.nz
