NZ Cider Festival 2025 – Cider is at the Heart of Nelson

Cider is at the Heart of Nelson

Did you know Nelson Tasman is a true cider powerhouse, producing over 50% of New Zealand’s cider?
Cider pioneers like Redwood Cellars (since 1947) and Rochdale Cider Factory (from the 1930s, now McCashins) helped put Nelson on the cider map. Since then, local breweries adding cider to their taps have brought even more flavour and craft to the scene.

Nelson Tasman isn’t just home to these cider legends—it’s also New Zealand’s second largest apple-growing region, producing about a third of the country’s apples (and some of the best quality you’ll find). With a perfect climate and a creative, laid-back vibe, Nelson is the ideal place to celebrate all things cider.

That’s why in 2016, the NZ Cider Festival made its debut as the nation’s first festival dedicated entirely to cider, giving cider lovers the chance to explore a full spectrum of flavours — from traditional to new world styles — all in a relaxed, family-friendly setting featuring artisan food and live entertainment.

And here’s the best bit — the winners of the NZ Cider Awards are announced live at the festival, making it the ultimate cider celebration you won’t want to miss!

See you there to raise a glass and toast the very best of New Zealand cider.

Early bird tickets are available until 31 August (or until sold out) — don’t wait! Grab yours now and celebrate all things cider with us!
