Right now, we’re calling for Nelson’s makers and innovations to put in an application to host a workshop.
You provide the workshop, we’ll promote it. You get all the ticket sales. Simple.
Applications close on 31 January. We can’t wait to hear from you!

We’re seeking workshop hosts for our month-long celebration of making. Whether you’re a master of traditional craft or a modern creator, we want to help you share your mahi.
We’ll handle the admin and marketing, while you focus on the teaching.

The deadline for Make It Nelson Applications is 31st January.

What is it?

Make It Nelson is a curated programme of hands-on workshops running throughout June 2026 in Whakatū Nelson.

It’s a chance to try different types of making, learn practical skills, and spend time creating with others.

Sessions are led by experienced artists and creatives in studios and venues around central Nelson.

Most workshops are beginner friendly, with options ranging from half-day and full-day sessions to longer courses.

Who is it for?

Make It Nelson is for anyone interested in making, building, experimenting, or trying something new.

The programme brings together a mix of traditional and contemporary forms of making, from pottery to digital fabrication.

Come on your own and connect with others, or attend with a partner or friend.

How to get involved

For attendees: The full website launches in late January, with the programme released early March 2026. Sign up to our newsletter and social media channels below to stay in touch.

For Activity Hosts: If you are an artist or a creative and would like to run a workshop, please download and read the Essential Information for Make It Nelson Activity Hosts (PDF) and submit an application by logging in through the Eventotron portal.
