Celebrate 125 Years of Music and Community!
This year, the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts turns 125! To celebrate, we’re launching something special: the “125 for 125” campaign, and we’d love you to be a part of it.
We’re inviting 125 people to sponsor a year in NCMA’s history (1901-2026) for $1,000. Choose a year that matters to you. Maybe a birthday, an anniversary, or a momentous occasion, and make it part of our story. Your contribution will help us care for our historic building, support our programmes, and ensure NCMA remains a vibrant musical hub for years to come.
We’re already hearing beautiful stories about people’s personal connections to NCMA. Here are a few of the reasons they chose to sponsor a year:
1956 – “I chose the year I started piano lessons at the Nelson School of Music”
1919 – “We dedicate our donation to all who make the extraordinary Adam Festival possible.”
Why this matters
For 125 years, NCMA has been a cornerstone of Nelson’s cultural life. From inspiring young musicians to hosting world-class performances, workshops, and community events, NCMA brings people together through the joy of music. It’s a place where creativity thrives, connections are made, and lifelong memories are created.
But like many arts organisations, NCMA operates in challenging financial times. Rising costs, increasing pressure on funding, and the ongoing need to maintain our historic building mean we cannot take our future for granted.
While we are financially careful and well-governed, sustaining our programmes and keeping our doors open requires creativity, community support, and generosity.
That is why the 125 for 125 campaign matters. By sponsoring a year in our history, you are not only helping us celebrate where we have come from. You are directly contributing to the next chapter of music in Nelson.
