Inspiration…
Greeting dear friends & fellow navigators, & welcome to my world this week. They say inspiration can strike at any time, & I believe this to be true. There are many times I have been inspired by something I witness, experience or read.
• I find inspiration in the real events of my life.
• Sometimes I am inspired by something another writer has written.
• Sometimes, I am inspired by the comment from a reader.
• Sometimes I am inspired by a song…
They have all provoked ideas in me & then produced stories, many of which become my articles. But there is one source, by far, where I get most of my inspiration, & this is in the silence. I practice meditation daily; sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes 20. It depends on my schedule on the day.
Sometimes I listen to guided meditations, while other times I sit in silence & focus on my breath. This is where inspiration strikes me the most. When I quiet the noise around me, I can “hear” the whispers of spirit much better. Make no mistake about it though, I ask for inspiration.
I let the universe know what I want from them. I will say something as simple as:
• Send me some ideas
• Hook me up with inspiration
• Nudge me in the right direction.
• Thank you!
Then I sit in silence & let it be. When I do this, often a word or image will spring forth.
This has happened so many times, I have lost count of the number of my stories to have been inspired in this way from 922 articles over the years. I will take the word or image & pull on the necessary thread.
What does this mean? I will ask, both myself & my spirit guides, & so, with faith, I start to write, & the concept begins to take shape. Sometimes, the words flow out of me faster than I can type them. Other times, I must sit with it awhile… And then, voilà! A story is written.
Is everything I write pure gold? Gosh, no! But if one story can inspire just one reader, then I have lit a match. Who knows what this one reader will do with the inspiration? Maybe they will take an idea based on what I have written & spin it into gold. Maybe they can inspire another person, & so on…
Inspiration is all around us. Sometimes it is obvious, while other times, it is sitting in the silence, waiting to be revealed. Either way, we must be open to receiving it. You do not have to turn your inspiration into a story. Turn it into action. Turn it into an investigation. Pull the thread & see where it takes you.
When you extract it from the silence, I believe this is the divine pointing it out to you, & this means in my world, it is meant to be followed.
Oh, by the way, I meditated silently this morning, & the word “virtue” popped up. What on earth does this mean? Let us see… More to follow next week I suspect…
Just few observations again dear friends & provide an opinion in my world. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate your being here. If my journey encourages you also, all is well with my soul. Looking forward to next week; this is Kenn Butler in Paradise, Nelson with best wishes.
