No Gimmicks. Just Great Beer.

At Acoustic Brewery, the beer speaks for itself. Founded in Nelson by Matt Rhodes, a biologist-turned-brewer, Acoustic Brewery started as a passion project with a simple vision: make traditional, authentic beer that’s true to style. No flashy packaging, no gimmicky names – just craft beer done right.

“Like acoustic music, all the ingredients should blend together to create a balanced, delicious brew,” says Matt. “We also love introducing lesser-known beer styles to New Zealand drinkers.” From Red IPAs to crisp pilsners, each beer reflects that philosophy, classic styles with a twist, crafted to perfection.”

Being based in the heart of Nelson Tasman has its perks. With world-class local hops at their fingertips, Acoustic Brewery crafts beers that are as local as they are legendary. Their New Zealand Pilsner, made entirely from local ingredients and regional hops, is a true taste of home.

“Perfection is in the details,” says Matt. “From concept to pint, we run multiple test batches, gather feedback, and tweak until it’s just right. Being a small brewery means we can pivot quickly. If something needs improving, we do it.”

If you’re heading to Marchfest 2026, make sure you stop by Acoustic Brewery’s stand. They’ll be pouring all their fan favourites, plus a new low-carb Asian Lager for those looking for something lighter. But if you only have time for one, don’t miss the Red IPA. Popular with fans and experts alike, it’s a slightly uncommon style that packs serious flavour and keeps fans coming back for more.

For Matt and the team, the joy of brewing is simple: seeing people enjoy their beer and return for another pint. If Acoustic Brewery had a soundtrack, it would be Patience by Guns N’ Roses, the perfect anthem for a brewer who believes great things take time.

So when you walk through the doors at Founders Park on 28th March, head to Acoustic Brewery’s stand, grab a pint, savour it, and let the beer do the talking.
