A 5–8 million‑year‑old fossilised shark tooth:Jewel Beetle
On the bench:
🦈A 5–8 million‑year‑old fossilised shark tooth
This broken tip likely came from Carcharodon hastalis, an extinct relative of the great white, found in Miocene deposits along the east coast of the South Island.
We created a wax impression to form a perfectly contoured sterling silver cap, cast it, refined the fit, and—thanks to the natural ridges of the tooth—it clicked into place with the most satisfying snap. A touch of adhesive adds extra security, and now this ancient fragment has been transformed into a pendant.
A little piece of deep‑time ocean history, handcrafted in Nelson.
