Take a ticket from the meter and your first hour is free!  If you have parked on an individual lollipop meter you don’t need to obtain a ticket, as these meters do not issue paper tickets.  But you can still park for your first hour for free.  Thereafter, please observe the time limits and if it is a 2 hour time zone or more, you can pay $2 per hour for every extra hour you want to park. Here are the important things to know:

• You must use a new Pay-by-Plate meter even if parking for free.
• Parking fees after the first free hour will be at the rate of $2.00 per hour.
• The Parking Bylaw and fees apply from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturday.
• Maximum time limits apply – check signs and meters for times
• Free all-day parking is available on the city fringes, and for car-pool permit holders in the city centre.
• When parking in the squares, don’t park facing oncoming traffic.
• Motorcycles can park in designated parking spots for free. If a motorcycle parks in a paid car park, then it must pay and abide by the time limits.
