Nelson Tasman Business Trust

Sarah Holmes

Manager Nelson Tasman Business Trust

We arrived here in April 1994, emigrating from England,  and fell in love with Nelson for its spectacular scenery, glorious weather, and relaxed lifestyle – perfect for an outdoors adventurous life and for bringing up children.

Living and working here has not disappointed and we cannot imagine living anywhere else.

Work has included teaching, financial administration and management, and several start-up businesses, one of which continued for 20 years and has recently been sold.

All my experience and interests led me to the Business Trust, where I have enjoyed working for over 10 years now. The Business Trust, a non-profit organisation, has been helping to make a difference and bring success to local small businesses for almost 25 years. It was started with an initiative by the Mayor of that time, Peter Malone – Grandfather of athlete, Liam.

Since 1993, many thousands of people from throughout the region have accessed our services for help in becoming self-employed, setting up a business or support as a business owner.

Having someone to talk through issues or challenges confidentially and at no cost, and being pointed in the right direction, can bring about positive change and build on success.

We have a network of experienced business Mentors from CEO’s of global enterprises, to owner operators and specialists in all areas of industry. They volunteer their time to mentor local businesses as they want to give back and help others grow and do well to benefit their local community.

Over 100 business a year give a big thumbs up to their business Mentor – and recommend the service to their friends and colleagues.

We also run a series of network meetings each month where local speakers cover helpful business topics.  Valuable connections can be made with other small local enterprises for collaboration, sharing ideas and resources.

Our popular training workshops introduce current topics and talented local speakers with leading edge knowledge to keep Nelson’s small businesses ahead of the game.

First off in May, Bea Pole Bokor will teach 3 modules in Facebook marketing; followed by Leon Jay in June and July with an 8-week course on Digital Marketing. Both Bea and Leon are gifted speakers, sharing latest approaches to marketing at a reduced local price.

You are welcome to contact us for an appointment and join the many 100’s of Business Trust members.  Check out the events page and our website for an appointment, more information and to register for any off our events – www.ntbt.co.nz
