A man of many talents Peter Ogilvie from Plus4 Insurance Solutions shares some of his pasions with us.

Peter Ogilvie – Insurance Adviser, Parent, Sportsman – cyclist

Sports have been a common theme to the weekly dairy of Peter Ogilvie.

From tennis feats winning the Nelson Under 13 singles, doubles & mixed doubles to representing Nelson in rugby, cricket, touch rugby and off course tennis, and also playing regular golf what happened next was never planned.

But, 2012 & after winning several prezzy cards from work-based competitions & not requiring new tennis racquets, golf clubs & the cricket & rugby boots hung up, work colleagues recommended a road bike.

So, an entry level road bike was purchased along with a helmet, pedals & shoes. No lycra yet

However, the passion for this new sport quickly increased & the competitive nature in Peter soon developed into Tasman Wheelers races, other local events & now coaching & training for the Age Group National events – full lycra attire all kitted out.

The attraction of the fresh air, the competitiveness, new friendships, including a cycling girl- friend, & now the opportunities to ride different bikes on the local trails & forestry roads are very appealing.

Peter’s latest adventures have been riding from Nelson to Christchurch solo on his road bike with fellow keen riders.

Also, late last year a close friend organised a group weeks’ cycling holiday to Melbourne riding a Cross bike & adventuring along the Great Victorian Rail Trail & visiting some amazing towns including crawling up to ski field resorts Mount Baw Baw – 6km of the steepest gradient I have ever ridden – & Mount Holtham – a ride of 30km to the top.

The next event/adventure is the Age Group Nationals in Timaru.

So, what about the tennis racquets, the golf clubs, my 2 daughters & my insurance business?

The dust will come off the racquets & golf clubs one day soon – you are never too old to play these sports

My daughters are amazing & studying hard to become the best at their chosen careers.

My insurance business is coming up 5 years old & later this year it will be 20 years in the insurance /financial industry .

So, YES, I am as passionate about life cover for clients as I am about my sporting & family life.

The weekly diary is full, but organised & managed to cater for all.
