Just Be Food & Drinks
Annette Meyer has been involved with the Nelson Farmers Market for over two years. For 18 months she was the face of Kaikoura Cheese and then in April this year started with her own business, Just Be Food & Drinks. Just Be is very easy to find as it is the funky retro caravan at the rear of the market towards the New Street entrance. Annette makes a mouth watering ranging of fresh food using Nelson Farmer’s Market ingredients. Some of her menu changes weekly but standard items include pretzel sandwiches filled with delicious Kaikoura Cheese and seasonal vegetables, traditional baked cheesecakes with fruit topping and a sweet item or two as well as organic watercress pesto and organic hummus. She also has a weekly hot dish such as soup, risotto, quiche or lasagne.
Annette is incredibly passionate about local food and the amazing people and personalities behind the food. She is committed to supporting local and all her products are made using local ingredients. Annette states ‘There is nothing that gives you the feeling to be part of a local community than trading at the NFM’. She is committed to the Farmers Market philosophy and enjoys selling directly to the consumer; ‘NFM is a place where we (local producers) meet with our lovely Nelson customers in person and give travellers and visitors a beautiful impression of Nelsons creative and colourful character. The encouragement and support from my local regulars and other market vendors is what keeps me going’.
You can find Annette and her amazing Just Be food at the Nelson Farmers Market every Wednesday in Kirby Lane (105 Bridge Street) from 8.30am to 1.30pm.
NB: Over the winter months Kaikoura Cheese is located in the Just Be caravan.
