New Year’s Eve in the City

Welcome 2021! The New Year’s Eve celebrations in Nelson City are family oriented until 9.30pm, then music for the adults including the essential countdown at midnight!
7 pm – The first part of the evening has a full programme of entertainment and performances for the kids on the Cathedral’s Church Steps, including the world’s first New Year’s countdown at 9 pm.
9:30pm – Ryan Beehre & Keeli
“Keeli” is Nelson’s new Electronic Pop duo consisting of exciting vocal talent Keeli Ferris, backed by the heavy groove-based production of Ryan Beehre. Ryan has been involved in recording, performance, writing and production of many styles of popular music ranging from Big Band Jazz to Electronica for over 25 years. Part of the New Zealand live electronic act “Minuit” in which he recorded and co-produced their gold selling record “the 88” in 2003 and won Best Live Electronic act in the New Zealand Music Awards in 2005.
10 pm – Rabbit Hōle
If you loved the amazing live vibe of Rabbit Hōle at their epic set at NYE 2019, then you’ll be in no doubt of where you’ll want to be for the celebrations this year! Having opened for Fly My Pretties, The Black Seeds and Tiki Taane, THIS is the perfect location for them to farewell 2020 with you.
11 pm – Cover Me
And if dancing in the street and singing loudly is your thing, then Cover Me is the band you want for your New Year’s party! With a mix of funk, soul, jazz, RnB and rock influences, Cover Me is a collaboration of some of New Zealand’s finest musicians who have found themselves living in Nelson. Delivering a fantastically high energy performance, Cover Me brings their BIG party sound to the arrival of 2021.
