Looking for something to do this weekend? Nelson Provincial Museum

Looking for something to do this weekend? Avoid the rush to see the ‘Rarely Seen’ exhibition before it closes!
This image ‘KING COLONY’ was taken by Frans Lanting in Antarctica and is one of the images on display.
?A sea of king penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus) stretch out to meet the hills on South Georgia Island in the southern Atlantic Ocean. King penguins, the second largest penguin species, congregate here starting in September. The aquatic birds form breeding colonies that can reach up to tens of thousands in number.
Don’t miss your chance to see this spectacular exhibition ‘Rarely Seen; Photographs of the Extraordinary’ is closing on Sunday 29 August.

Did you know…
That we have a boat on the second floor of our museum?
As part of Our Science Our Future: 100 Years of Cawthron exhibition, the interactive display on our outdoor terrace features an inflatable boat! Climb aboard and listen to the sounds of whales and dolphins.
Our sun-filled outdoor terrace is a lovely spot to spend time in
The boat kindly is on loan from Artur and Dr Anastasija Zaiko.
