Garden Treasure Hunt for Kids!: Tim’s Garden

Children of any age will benefit from exploring their natural environment. We did this at home with our 1 & 3 year old and wrote it out so that our 3 year old could cross things off as we found them. You may choose to gather some of your treasures in a basket and photograph treasures that wouldn’t like to be in a basket ?
Some great questions to ask during or after this activity is: What do you notice? How does the garden make you feel? What can you see, hear and feel?
If you want to print this out, we have a free PDF download available on our website www.timsgarden.co.nz
Tag us in your pics and be into win some seedlings for your spring garden!
*Please note: Adult supervision is important to ensure children are being safe in the garden. This is particularly important when it comes to identifying edibles.
We did this with our preschoolers though this is appropriate for older children too. Older children could engage with this with more independence and will come up with more sophisticated observations and findings.
We will be sharing more tips about getting into your garden at this year’s Nelson Parent and Child Expo. Keep an eye on @nelsonparentandchild for updates ?
Stay safe out there and enjoy your garden and the extra family time.
