The Team at The Car Company truly live and breathe vehicles with a number of staff who have worked for them for over 15 + years. Their passion for what they do is an everyday event, matching the correct vehicle to the right person at the right price.
Shane Drummond has been in the car business for over 35 years and owns one of the largest dealerships in the South Island along with his business partner Ben Brownie. They sell both preloved and new vehicles in Richmond, Tahunanui and Nelson City.
An integral part of The Car Company business is very community based. Shane explains, “It’s something I’ve been strong about right from the start of my business, involving ourselves within the community. We target local areas that need support such as the Women’s Refuge and have done so for over 15 years”.
Shane is very sport orientated with lots of connections within local sporting clubs. His approach is unique, one example being the Charity Drive promotion, assisting people who are looking for funding to help their charity. Shane explains, “ I have $10,000 to give away, you tell me why you should have it. This promotion just goes nuts. In the first year we had approximately 80 applicants and you would never have heard of half of them, all Nelson based. It varies each year with the money spread across different charities or sports groups, but it has to be local, and the money has to stay in Nelson to support our community”.
The Car Company Nelson has a special offer for the month of December only. It’s their annual $2000 minimum trade-in at the Nelson Dealership only for the whole month of December. The trade-in vehicle must have a new WOF and current registration, it doesn’t matter what colour it is or the panel and paint condition, just bring it in and pick the vehicle you want off the Nelson Branch, there are over 150 to choose from!
The Car Company will be opening a new dedicated branch close to the present location which will be solely for brand new SsangYong and LDV vehicles, the grand opening will be early 2022 – Watch this space!
Ben Brownie, General Manager explains, “It’s all about volume, variety, quality and offering personal friendly service. I recently had a lady email me saying she had never had a vehicle purchase made so easy. Funnily enough, that is the slogan we came up with a year ago. WE MAKE IT EASY. So, if someone comes in the door and they want to buy or sell us a vehicle, finance it, insure it, service or add accessories through us, they want us to freight it to Golden Bay, they can do everything in one place. It’s all about making people’s lives easier.
A big part of our business is not only selling quality vehicles but buying vehicles too. We are always looking for vehicles to buy, so if you are looking to sell or trade-in a vehicle then come and see us”.
